About Streets of Your Town Art

Streets of Your Town Art is based in the beautiful town of Babinda in tropical Far North Queensland.

The artworks are by me, artist Melbee. I have had an OBSESSION with houses, buildings, interiors, suburbs, caravans and all things associated my whole life. The original plan was to be an architect - but upon realising how much maths was involved, that plan was immediately scrapped and I decided to paint the houses instead!!!

As well as being surrounded by stunning tropical scenery, the tropics contain some unique and diverse architecture - everything from art deco to Queenslanders and the influences of the different migrant populations that have lived in the region for decades. A true melting pot of deliciousness in architecture! Colourful, vibrant, fun and rich in colour use - the works bring out the personality of the home/building/caravan. I also draw a lot of inspiration from childhood memories and holidays, and the places I have lived throughout my life - from big cities, suburbia to country towns.

And it is not only houses I create. I also do building commissions - whether it be a café, bakery, pub, butcher - any workplace you can think of I can do. These make great "best boss" gifts, retirement gifts or as a reward and sense of pride in your own business and its building.

Commissions can be done from anywhere in Australia (or the world) as I primarily use photos to do the commission works as well as using google maps and real estate sites. It is a simple and easy process, and you will be stepped through what is required to create your unique commission piece.
